Wilhelm Kreisel established a locksmith and autogenous welding shop in the town of Keula on August 12. Their initial product was air filters. The company, initially a family-owned craft business, evolved into a small-scale industrial enterprise. It then rebranded to Gebrüder Kreisel Maschinenfabrik und Eisengießerei.
